Since most Bais Dovid alumni think that "alumni" means Tiferes Gedalyahu it might shock some to know that if you have learnt in Bais Dovid YOU are a Bais Dovid alumnus. Baruch Dayan HaEmes
We regret to inform you of the ptirah of Rabbi Yeshaya Dovid b"r Nissen Bayer a"h.
Levaya will take place tonight at 11:30 at Yeshiva Bais Dovid, 32 West Maple Avenue in Monsey.A short bio will iy"h be forthcoming.
As we, former talmidim of Bais Dovid were shocked to hear about the petirah of R' Shayah Duvid, different statements were expressed. Perhaps one thing that all would agree is that this was a man who really cared. He was not someone who had a 9-5 job. He lived and breathed Bais Dovid, he was excited when a talmid did well (even after he left the Yeshiva), and he was horrified when a talmid failed to do well.
He will be remembered as someone who gave much of his time to help others and was sincere about keeping a high standard of purity in chinuch habonim. Agree or disagree with all his methods, he was real. What he demanded were standards by which he lived.
In these days, where chinuch became artificial and merely professional jobs, without REAL hartz, we needed someone like him to remind us that hartz is a strategic part of chinuch. While BD may have hired others who are more polished they are a far cry from the old caring menahel we were terrified from, but still loved.
